With the arrival of fine weather, runs were plenty this last weekend as schools returned to the field of play providing a welcome break from revision and exams for those taking them.
Bedford seemed to be the epicentre of run scoring this weekend with Bedford and Stowe both racking up around the 350 mark. Top scorer of the week that was reported was Charlie Hood of Gresham’s who scored 154* in their Under 17 cup win over Forest.
That competition has now reached the quarter final stage, with Shrewsbury set to travel to Huddersfield or Sedbergh, Trent at home to Gresham’s, Winchester facing St Edward’s and the winner of Epsom and Canterbury Academy at Bradfield.
With just a few regional semi finals being played, we should reach the national quarter final stage next week. Former winners in 2011 and 2013, Shrewsbury crashed out to much fancied Bromsgrove on Sunday, who face either the current holders, Malvern or Kings Worcester in the West Midlands final. The winners will play either Trent or Felsted next week for a place at Arundel Castle on 3rd July
In the North, Sedbergh will play Myerscough College, Manchester in the North West Final and then play St Peters, York to represent the North at finals day. While in the West. King’s Taunton will face either Wellington College, St. Edward’s, or Bradfield. Hurstpierpoint will play Whitgift to decide who will represent the South.
