Dauntsey’s has a strong reputation locally for it’s cricket, with close links between the school and both MCC and Wiltshire Cricket. The school puts out 3 senior XIs, with A and B team age group matches throughout the school from year 7 to year 10.
Current Wiltshire senior player, Jack Mynott, leads the 1st XI, who play a wide number of fixtures against local schools and adult clubs, including the Wiltshire Queries and the MCC. The team also enters the National T20 competition, reaching the national quarter-final in 2019. Fixtures are generally played on Thursdays and Saturdays. Coaching throughout the school is led by Ralph Hardwick, a Level 3 coach, who also works widely on the Gloucestershire Pathway; whilst the overall Master in charge is Tim Butterworth.
There are 5 dedicated cricket squares; 4 lanes of practice facilities indoors; 6 lanes of astroturf nets; and several grass nets. Recent investment has seen the addition of a training cage; and a new scoreboard for our second pitch.
The philosophy of Dauntsey’s cricket is to encourage a core set of values; giving as many young people the chance to play and enjoy the game, as well as improving their skills. We aim to produce teams who play positive cricket in a energetic and respectful environment.
