Latymer has a proud cricketing history, and many boys have played the game over the years. The school is now co-educational, and the game is being enjoyed by both boys and girls at our ground Wood Lane , on excellent pitches. Some of our children represent Middlesex or London Schools every year.
The school history book has a photo of Jack Hearne (England) coaching at Wood Lane in 1952, and there’s also a picture of Headmaster Dale umpiring cricket in the 1920?s. Latymerians who have gone on to play County cricket are: 1905 Leonard Burtt (Middlesex), 1972 Richard Hayward (Middlesex and Hampshire), and 1978 Simon Hughes, broadcaster and sportswriter (Middlesex and Durham)
We have also recently developed a partnership with Middlesex CCC, benefiting from some excellent coaching, and this relationship bodes well for the future of Latymer cricket. There is also a close link with our local Hammersmith & Fulham council and we now host a very successful W12 schools cricket tournament at Wood Lane , encouraging closer links between our school and the local community.
Directions to the ground: on the corner of Du Cane Rd and Wood Lane, close to the BBC television centre. Nearest tube station: Wood Lane.
