Dear Master i/c,
This is an important email about the National Boys Under 18 T20 competition. The competition celebrates its 20th birthday this year and as you are aware, the final will be on the main ground at Lord’s on 28th June with the kind permission of the MCC. In all 215, schools will be taking part with 27% of the entrants coming from the state sector, that makes up a sizeable proportion of the number of non-fee-paying schools playing cricket at Under 18 level.
This letter will also serve as a check list for you as there are some administrative tasks to complete.
- Ensure you have downloaded and read the regulations for the competition as there are some changes this year (highlighted in yellow).
- Please ensure you have given the regulations to the umpires to read – please note umpires must be ECB ACO qualified, ideally neutral and sourced from your local panel. Umpire costs should be shared between participant schools. Any incidents of bad behaviour or unfair play should be reported by the umpires as per the regulations.
- Ensure you have obtained the official ball for the Tournament. As Tiflex are one of our sponsors and the balls are subsidised by them, we do insist they are used for all games.
- The draw for the tournament can be found here and is a series of linked spreadsheets, one for each region. This will be updated weekly.
- If poor weather prevents you playing a game, please contact myself [email protected] and your regional organiser, so an extension can be arranged if needed. Please do not rearrange games after the play by date without prior permission of the tournament director. Poor weather is a legitimate excuse, your star player having a hospital appointment is not.
- We will review the weather situation regularly if the poor weather continues and may extend some deadlines if needs be.
- Within 24 hours of a game, the winning side MUST email the tournament director [email protected] with the scores, overs faced by each side and any individual scores over 50 or 3 wicket hauls.
*Greyfriars School 145-6 (20) (W. Bunter 73*, T. Jenkins 3-12), Grange Hill School 150-1 (17.3) (Z. Maguire 107*)
It is important that accurate overs are included as this is used to calculate home advantage that is vital for home advantage in the latter stages. If overs faced are not included it will be assumed that a full 20 overs have been faced. Results can also be posted on Play Cricket and on SOCS. Play Cricket will be used by all in the latter stages of the tournaments.
All results for the competition will be reported on the Latest Results Blog each Tuesday.
- In the event of disputes, please refer them to myself as Tournament Director [email protected]
Here’s hoping that the competition is the best yet!
