Until the age of relatively cheap jet travel in the 70s, the limit of most schools’ touring ambitions was to Holland, though end-of-term festivals within the UK? mushroomed from the late Sixties (where schools travelled far beyond their term-time circuit).
Since those days it has become commonplace to tour all over the World, either pre-season (eg Christmas, February half-term or Easter holidays) or at the culmination of the UK season in July or October half term, taking advantage of the two week break that is now common place.
This section of the website is intended to give something of the flavour of various destinations where UK schools have toured in the past, and most entries are written by schools themselves.
